Parents & Dancers:

Can you believe it’s recital time again?  We are taking class & individual photos at the studio Monday May 26-Thursday May 29, 2008.

Most classes will be photographed during their regular class time with the following exceptions:   Tues. 4:30 ballet will be photographed at 5:30 on Tuesday, the Friday Jr. Hip-Hop Company photos on Thursday at 6:30 pm, Sat. 11:00 Ballet/Tap on Wed. May 28th at 6:00 pm and Sat. company classes on Wed. May 28 at 7:00 pm.  If you would like to sign up for a private setting for an individual action shot, you may sign up at Avant for an early afternoon appointment on Monday. Lynn Davies will be taking digital photos and you will be able to preview & select your photos before ordering.  All dancers should have their costumes, hair, & make-up ready for the photo session.  Class photos will be taken of each class and parents may purchase individual and/or group photos at the same time.  PHOTOS MUST BE PAID AT THE TIME THE PHOTO ORDERS  ARE ORDERED.  Please do not bring your own cameras into the photo area.

All ballet classes or ballet/tap combo classes use pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair in a bun.  Please use hair pins (not bobby pins), a hair tie that matches the hair color, and a hair net.  We have hair pins & hair nets for sale in the store.  Please use gel in the hair for a smooth bun with no tendrils or bangs (short bangs OK-no hair in the eyes).  Spring clippies matching the hair color is good to hold bangs & stray hairs.  Girls with short hair may use a hair piece to enlarge the size of the bun.

Jazz, lyrical, & tap classes will use tan tights unless the costume is pants.  Black pants require black tights or socks and black shoes.  Other pants require tan tights or no tights.  All tap and hip-hop shoes are black.

For tap, jazz, lyrical, tumbling, & hip-hop photos you may style the hair as you wish.  The faculty prefers a pony tail with a side part.

USE CLEAR OR NO FINGERTAIL POLISH.  Leave your jewelry at home.  Use only jewelry that is part of the costume.  You may use rhinestone, diamond, or CZ stud earrings.

Make-up should be light street make-up.  If you do not want your child to wear make-up in the photo, do not use it.  Please use Vaseline or gloss on the lips.  If you do want a “stage look” for the photos, do not use heavy stage make-up.  It looks silly on children.  We recommend a light, non-oily base or mineral powder base, blush, brown eyeshadow, eyeliner pencil, and lipstick.  For stage you will use a true red on the lips and cheeks.  We use brown eyeshadow and true red lipstick because it has the truest color under stage lighting.  It is good to begin building your dancer’s own stage kit.  Use a fishing tackle box or make-up box with your child’s name on it.  Please include gel, hair pins, hair nets, scissors, needle & thread, safety pins, hair brush & comb, small mirror, make-up remover, & make up.  Do not share eye makeup.  Put your dancer’s name on all costumes, costume pieces, and shoes.

If you do not have a costume, please come ready for photos anyway.  Bring a similar costume if you have one, or wear your favorite dancewear.  We will look for a costume for the photo or place the dancer in a spot that works with dancewear.  We want all dancers photographed.
